A new shocking information shows how former President Barack Obama made two attempts on proposing to a different woman before he got married to Michelle Obama.
According to Daily Mail, as revealed in David J.Garrow’s book – “Rising Star” , Obama had proposed to a woman named Sheila Miyoshi Jager twice, before he met Michelle and carried on seeing her for at least a year since he started dating the future first lady.
As Batimatec claims, Barrack and Jager started dating in their 20’s and Jager reportedly revealed to Garrow that the relationship felt to her like “an island unto ourselves,” and that Obama would “[compartmentalize] his work and home life,” . She also said that Obama felt a “deep-seated need to be loved and admired.”
Jager kept opening up “In the winter of ’86, when we visited my parents, he asked me to marry him.” She explained how her parents were reportedly worried about his career advancement at the time, since he was just a community organizer then.
They also thought that she was too young to marry, since she was 23 at the time and Barrack only 25. Jager said that she responded to his marriage proposal, “not yet,” but they still continued dating.
In 1987 , as she said, Obama turned out “so very ambitious very suddenly.”
She explained “I remember very clearly when this transformation happened, and I remember very specifically that by 1987, about a year into our relationship, he already had his sights on becoming president.”
Jager revealed how they started arguing about race and politics, since she was white.
Garrow wrote in his book that at that time in Chicago being a black politician and having a white wife was a great disadvantage to the development of his career. Jager said the “resolution of [Obama’s] black identity was directly linked to his decision to pursue a political career,” however he still “felt trapped between the woman he loved and the destiny he knew was his.”
She claimed Obama asked for her hand in marriage again before he went to Harvard Law School. Jager explained how she felt, that the proposal came “out of a sense of desperation over [the couple’s] eventual parting and not in any real faith”.
Not long after that, the couple broke up and Barack met the then future first lady, Michelle Robinson. However Jager went to Harvard as well for a teaching fellowship.
Garrow wrote in his book that “Barack and [Jager] had continued to see each other irregularly throughout the 1990-91 academic year, notwithstanding the deepening of Barack’s relationship with Michelle Robinson.”
According to Daily Mail Jager commented about continuing to see Obama :”I always felt bad about it.”
The two continued their communication only occasionally, after Obama married Michelle.
There has been no public comment about Garrow’s book from no one in the Obama family yet.
