Trump Threatens to Have Pelosi, Bidens, and Schiff Testify in Senate Trial

President Donald Trump challenged House Democrats to impeach him “fast” before threatening to seek testimony from House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

Trump tweeted, just prior to Pelosi’s announcement for the Judiciary Committee to proceed with articles of impeachment:“The Do Nothing Democrats had a historically bad day yesterday in the House.

They have no Impeachment case and are demeaning our Country. But nothing matters to them, they have gone crazy.”“Therefore I say, if you are going to impeach me, do it now, fast, so we can have a fair trial in the Senate and so that our Country can get back to business,” Trump continued.

“We will have Schiff, the Bidens, Pelosi and many more testify, and will reveal, for the first time, how corrupt our system really is.”

He added: “I was elected to ‘Clean the Swamp,’ and that’s what I am doing!”Trump’s tweets followed a hearing before the House Judiciary Committee, which set the stage for the next phase of the Democratic-led House impeachment inquiry.

On Wednesday, key witness Jonathan Turley, who is a constitutional scholar well respected on both sides of the aisle, testified that the current legal case for impeaching Trump is “woefully inadequate” and “dangerous.”

“One can oppose President Trump’s policies or actions but still conclude that the current legal case for impeachment is not just woefully inadequate, but in some respects, dangerous, as the basis for the impeachment of an American president,” Turley wrote.

“The reference to the Hunter Biden deal with Burisma should never have occurred and is worthy of the criticism of President Trump that it has unleashed.”

Democrats also blocked a motion calling for Schiff to testify during the Judiciary impeachment hearings.Republicans have been pushing for Schiff to take the stand given his office’s central role in handling the Ukraine call “whistleblower” complaint that triggered an inquiry.

On Thursday morning, Pelosi called for the House to proceed with drafting articles of impeachment.”The facts are uncontested. The president abused his power,” Pelosi said.

“Our president leaves us no choice but to act,” she continued.”Sadly, but with confidence and humility, today, I am asking our chairman to proceed with articles of impeachment.”Trump hit back, accusing her party of trying to impeach him over “NOTHING.”

“This will mean that the beyond important and seldom-used act of Impeachment will be used routinely to attack future Presidents. That is not what our Founders had in mind,” he tweeted.
